Cubilog Kft. closed an EU-funded production digitization project

On December 14, in a personal meeting in Bábolna, the leaders of Ecomotive and Cubilog Kft evaluated the results of the digitization of the production process implemented during the EchoEgg project. With the support received from the previous EU budget cycle, in connection with the food industry digitization development called S3Food realized in the framework of Horizon 2020, a complex development with a total value of EUR 100,000 was created. The two Hungarian SMEs, as members of the Székesfehérvár-based Innoskart ICT Cluster, joined forces under the coordination of the Cluster to continue the digitalization development of the egg juice and egg powder production plant of Ecomotive Kft. in Bábolna. The plant produces high-quality raw materials used by many segments of the food industry, mostly by processing eggs from domestic producers. 

Within the framework of the project, a data-based production process monitoring solution was developed in order to improve the quality assurance of the production process and increase production efficiency. The technology implementer of the digitization project was Cubilog Kft., based in Csomád, which supplies sensor-based solutions for agriculture and the food industry. 

 

As part of the collaboration, we supplemented the already existing data collected by the sensors of the individual equipment by installing new sensors so that the steps of the production process could be monitored as completely as possible. In addition to the already existing thermometers, flowmeters and pressure sensors, within the framework of the project, cells for measuring the weight of the product, as well as additional thermometers and various consumption meters and tachometers, were added to the finished material storage tanks. The installation of new sensors significantly increased the amount of data helping to understand production. In addition to the installation of the hardware devices, the integration of already collected data and created databases into a new system had to be implemented, as well as the development and commissioning of a completely new production process monitoring system. 

 

The development was based on a precise description of the individual steps of the production process and the factors influencing the given step. The display and summary of data associated with the steps of the production process is one of the legs of digitalization development. By mapping the relationships and complex rule systems related to the production processes, the collected data enable the interpretation of the production processes. A significant step forward is the graphic display of the production process, the technical solution of which was one of the significant steps of the project.

 

The created digitization solution already shows visible and meaningful results in production support after the first days. Based on the data and their display, it can be seen in the act if the technological discipline is not satisfactory at some point, as well as the amount of raw material produced by breaking a given number of eggs can be monitored practically in real time. By continuously checking and entering data on consumption data, efficiency calculations that previously required longer time could also be automated. One of the serious expectations of the project implementation was the reduction and, if possible, the elimination of manual data recording activities related to quality assurance. Based on previous experience, this was completely solved with digitization, thus relieving the quality assurance process and the staff involved.

 

During the creation of the digitalization solution developed for specific expectations, it was of decisive importance to create a system development that could also be suitable for monitoring other production processes. The created process display application, with appropriate customization and process interpretation, can be suitable for supporting any production process or even operational tasks.
